Ellenbrook Central set to expand and Metronet plans announced

Ellenbrook Central is set to undergo a $63 million expansion – due to be completed in 2020.

The expansion will bring an additional 20 retailers to the centre, including a much requested Kmart store.

Manager, Mike Barrington said, “our customers are highly anticipating Kmart, one of Australia’s most loved retailers.”

Vicinity Centres revealed today the works would create about 500 jobs — 120 during construction and a further 380 retail or hospitality jobs on completion.

Mr Barrington also said the expansion would feature 320 new rooftop car spaces - each topped with solar generating shades.

The expansion of the shopping centre comes on the back of the State Government’s announcement of the route for the Ellenbrook rail line from Morley.

The line will travel from Ellenbrook, down the western side of New Lord Street, through land north of Marshall Road and down the middle of Tonkin Highway — before connecting at Bayswater station on the Midland line.
