Ellenbrook students are spoilt for choice with 15 local schools

Grab your labeler, sharpener, pencils and wide-brim hat – another school year is about to start. And the good news is, your kids will be spoilt for choice when it comes to schools in Ellenbrook.

Did you know that there are 15 schools in and around this bustling area, ranging from public to private and Catholic to Montessori?

We’ve published a current list of local schools below, along with some tips on choosing the right school for your child.

It can seem daunting at first, especially if you have just moved to a new area. There are lots of factors to consider including the type of education you had and what you would like for your own children. Do you have a preference for private or public, religious or independent? Same-sex or co-educational?

www.Raisingchildren.net.au  recommends that you consider personal values and preferences (including the ones detailed above) as well as practical considerations (location, costs, whether a commute to school is manageable).

School-specific factors, such as size, subjects offered, facilities, academic performance and support for children with additional needs are also worth noting. Another thing to note if you choose to go public is whether you live in right zone for the government school you have in mind?

Finally, they recommend that you try to find out how a school communicates with its families and whether it has any connections to the local community. Chat to your neighbours and friends to help find out which of the following local schools that might be right for your family.
